Hi Y'all,

It's Dan in Ohio. Well actually I'm in Oklahoma right now. Anyway, I'm enjoying a nice break from my hectic grad school life. I finished my thesis show last quarter. For those of you who don't know I did the set and lights for The Rocky Horror Show. We did it at a beautiful turn of the century opera house downtown which presented a whole list of issues. I have posted some pics from the show here:

After that I took a study abroad trip to Prague. We were there for 10 days and saw 6 shows and toured a bunch of Czech theatres. They take the theatre very seriously there and it was very cool to experience that level of appreciation. I posted some pictures from that trip here:

I'm looking forward to teaching beginning stagecraft next quarter. I don't have any other classes but all that extra time will go to writing my thesis and designing The Cradle Will Rock in the spring. I hope everyone is having a great Christmas. Take it easy all.

Hey everyone! I'm back in Idaho for the holidays and it's nice to be home. I got to spend time with my siblings and nieces and nephews and forgot how much of a joy they can be (sometimes).

I just finished my third semester, so I have three more to go. It keeps me kinda busy, but I'm enjoying life. I got to see Lisa N. a couple of weeks ago and she seems to be doing great! I survived the transit strike okay. I got to turn in one of my finals over the Internet and then I got to pay some laid-off guy to take me to the airport in his car (he was charging about half what the taxis were trying to charge).

Hope all of you are well and have an enjoyable holiday season. While I don't envy you being away for the holidays Lorna, I don't have much sympathy for you having to suffer a warm, white-sand Christmas! Sounds like fun to me.

Merry Christmas and best wishes to all in the New Year!

~Howdy y'all~ I am sorry it has been a while since I have blogged...but I heard from a little bird that Christmas is a great time to post blogs!! Well, I am still cruisin' the big blue...I had a short three week vacation back to dry land over Thanksgiving but I will be on the ship for the Christmas holidays. We will be sailing into Belize on Christmas day and we will be in Barbados for the new year. With all the crew being "in the same boat" and missing their families everyone tries extra hard to make the holidays special. I hope that y'all have fantastic holidays!! I think this will be the first Christmas I have ever had in warm weather!! The only "white Christmas" I'll be having is on the white sand beaches!! Could be worse!! Take care everyone...missing you all lots!!

Konnichiwa, y'all!

Zach Schrotter,in Dallas here, freezing his tail off--man, I remember when it'd hit forty degrees and half our crew would be in shorts...ah well, another reason to dig out the black leather trench, I suppose. Anyway, onto news. Sorry it's taken me a while to post here, thought I'd get some news together first. Good to hear from Bliss and Richard, hope life is treating you both well. Billy and Nate, I'm glad your shows came off without a hitch. By the way, Nate, one of the disney channels here shows reruns of The Tick! SPOON! Lisa, congrats on landing the movie, I hope it does well.

I think the last time I posted here, I was on my way to the National Poetry Slam in Albuquerque. Our sister city Fort Worth came in 3rd place nationally, and one of their poets won the individual poetry slam title. My slam team for Dallas narrowly missed the semi-finals by about 4/10ths of a point. A discouraging loss to say the least, but Albuquerque was fantastic--definitely a reminder of some of the prettier places back up north, and the competition was incredible. Next year's competition will be Austin, TX, and I hope to return as a representative for either Dallas or as a team member for the venue where I co-host a bi-monthly poetry slam and open mic in Addison, TX at a place called Dunn Bros Coffee. Next week I compete for the chance to represent Dallas at the Individual World Poetry Slam being held in Charlotte, NC in March. I'm going up against some incredibly tough poets to beat, including 3 guys who were on HBO's Def Poetry earlier this year. Keep your fingers crossed for me. If anyone in the Texas area thinks a presentation on performance poetry might work for their classroom, or would like to have the slam poetry team with the best track record in the south perform at their event or venue, Dallas' 2005 team (including myself) are looking to raise funds and are on the hunt for places to perform. Send an e-mail to me if interested: zschrotter@verizon.net

The less said about my job, the better.

My wedding is about 5 months away. Kasi and I will be getting married in Dallas, plans are moving along, but there's still tons to do. If anyone's available to come to Dallas for a visit on Sunday May, 7, or if they just want an announcement, please send an e-mail to me at the address listed above with your address and phone number, I'll put you on the list. It would be very cool to see some old friends out there. Trust me, the food will be better than Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers n' drams of Hawaiian Punch. (I can still hear my scenographics drafting board screaming my name.)

Hope the rest of you are well, that you have a safe and happy holiday, and a prosperous new year. I hope to head for Cisco sometime soon for a campfire and jam session, maybe in the spring. I'm heading for Austin in April for a Slammaster's meeting, I'd like to stop in if I'm able.

Take care,
"Konnichiwa" Zach Schrotter

Just saw the movie RENT, brought back a lot of memories of us all rockin' out to the soundtrack in the WWC dorms, as well as three day weekend trips to Nevada screaming the lyrics track one to the end! Haven't heard from Tony Husar in awhile. What's up T-Bone? What's your take, thumbs up on the movie?
