Lookin' good Bliss. Such a great show.
Well, despite being in law school, I'm finally getting to something theatre-ish. Most law schools have a parody show/Saturday Night Live skit show every year that lampoons law school. I decided to try and participate in this year's show. I wrote a little parody song from "The Doctor is in" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. I figured since I wrote it I would get to perform it and that would give me at least one thing to do in the show and a litte extra something fun on the side. We've started rehearsals and suddenly I've picked up some other parts. In fact, while I'm not the most polished singer in the world, I appear quite talented in comparison to some of my law school compadres and so they gave me the main part in the big finale song which is "I wanna be an Attorney" set to "I wanna be a Producer". It seems like it's gonna be fun. We get to perform two nights the first week in April so it's a good diversion for the next few weeks. In addition, I also get to do a little theatre networking-- our musical director has been working in the city for 25 years now. He's been the musical director for Forbidden Broadway and a bunch of other stuff. I was talking with him after the rehearsal and he has gotten to work with all the big theatre names like Bernadette and Nathan Lane and on and on.
Another cool thing is that the musical on Broadway right now, "Avenue Q" was written by a guy who went to my law school and made his connections through the same little show I'm doing. Here's hoping!!!
Hope you all are doing well.
